UC Irvine nephrologist awarded prestigious grant


June 29, 2016 — Dr. Connie Rhee, assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.Dr. Connie Rhee, assistant professor of medicine in the UC Irvine School of Medicine's Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, is one of four researchers in the nation to receive the American Thyroid Association (ATA) 2016 research grants.

Rhee's research focus is on endocrine disorders in kidney disease.

With the support of the two-year ATA grant, she said she will be studying the relationship between thyroid function, quality of life and mental health in patients with chronic kidney disease.

The ATA is the leading worldwide organization dedicated to the advancement, understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders and thyroid cancer.

The other recipients are from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and Minnesota State University in Mankato.
