Clinical Programs
Faculty members of the Division of Hematology/Oncology provide both outpatient and inpatient care for every aspect of hematologic and oncologic diseases, including diagnostic studies, chemotherapy and prevention services.
Outpatient services are performed at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Orange County's only comprehensive cancer center designated for excellence by the National Cancer Institute.
Our renowned physicians provide care for the following conditions:
- Benign hematology — cytopenias, anemias, aplastic anemias, platelet disorders, coagulation disorders and hemochromatosis
- Bone and soft tissue cancers — sarcoma
- Cancers of the brain, breast, head, lung and neck, including nasopharangeal cancer
- Gastrointestinal cancers — colon, rectum, esophageal, stomach, liver and pancreas
- Malignant hematology — Hodgkins and non-Hodgkins lymphomas, multiple myelomas, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders, chronic and acute leukemias
- Melanoma
- Urologic cancers — kidney, bladder, testicle and prostate

Clinical services are supported by advanced state-of-the-art medical technologies such as CT, MRI and PET scans. Others include cytologic diagnoses, immunopathology, genetics, flow cytometry, polymerase chain reaction, gene analysis and various supplementary diagnostic tools.
All are available at UCI Medical Center, Orange County's only university hospital.
The cancer center also holds regular clinics for patients with breast cancer, lung cancer, melanoma and others. A geriatric oncology clinic is held at the SeniorHealth Center, also located at the medical center complex in Orange.
